Static Test
7-10 MS-9 Scanner User’s Manual
Static Test
Whenever you start a new batch or job, you should calibrate a test symbol that is rep-
resentative of the application’s symbols and has a full set of bars so the scanner can
calculate the symbol’s average frame size, number of fields, etc. as a reference.
After doing OMR setup, position a symbol in the center of the scan range at the correct
distance from the scanner. (Nominal mounting distance is 4 inches (10.6 cm) from the
front of the scanner.)
Testing from Calibration Menu
1. In the Calibrate area, click the Static button.
2. View the representation of your symbol
shown in the scan on the Calibration
menu.
The sample pattern shown here has 9
bars in the calibration window, the first
of which (at top) is a green gate bar.
3. To repeat the test, click the Once button
under Test.
Note: If you switch symbols, always use the
Once button. If you use Static, the scanner
will attempt to re-calibrate the symbol based
on the current symbol.
Or you can click on the Continuous button and see the data produced in the OMR
Data bar.
Testing from Terminal View
1. After static calibration is complete, click on the Terminal button.
2. From the macro bar at the bottom of the Terminal window, select, Enable Serial
Trigger.
Note: You may need to click Next Row to locate the macro.
3. Go back to the macro bar and select Send Trigger Character.
You can also enable the Continuous macro and then the Send Trigger Character
macro to view the results of multiple continuous triggers.
